In designing engineered high power solar lights, we must consider the following factors:
- pole height/spacing
- local temperature/sunlight conditions
- LED dimming at night
- customer’s budget
ADNLITE has written an article to explain how to design commercial outdoor solar lights. But reasonably matching solar panel power and battery capacity is still a challenge. Large solar panel power and battery capacity require higher costs. On the contrary, high-power outdoor solar lights’ lighting time and life span can’t meet the customers’ requirements.
So ADNLITE decided to collect some commercial outdoor solar light projects. These are projects that we have done all over the world.
High Power Outdoor Solar Lights in TX, USA
Texas, USA’s temperature and light hours are ideal for installing high-power solar lights. Only 120W solar panels and 12.8V 80ah battery capacity can’t support 80W power LED street lights running at full power all night. So, the solar-powered street light in this project is also connected to the grid. The power stored in the battery will be depleted first. After that, the system will automatically connect to the grid to power the solar led street light. It will compensate for the disadvantage of unstable lighting time with solar power.

High Power Outdoor Solar Lights in WA, AUSTRALIA
Australia has plenty of light hours and is, therefore, one of the most suitable countries for solar installations. We use the lowest possible LED power to achieve sufficient lumen values. It is brought about by the fact that we used the highest light efficiency LED solution. We paired a solar panel with four times the LED power and a lithium battery with sufficient capacity. In addition, the customer required the solar led street light to work at full power all night.

So we configured a large enough solar panel and lithium battery. However, the winter temperature of the project site is around 0 degrees Celsius. It will significantly reduce ordinary lithium batteries’ charging and discharging performance at 0 degrees Celsius. High Power Outdoor Solar Lights in Saudi Arabia
Solar lights project at an airport in Saudi Arabia. The project has three different heights of light poles. So we used three different high powered solar lights to ensure the brightness of the road. We increased the configuration of solar panels and batteries. This is because the client needed to ensure the solar led street light for this project for more than five rainy days for all-night lighting. In addition, the client insisted on the integrated design. But the size of the 240W solar panel was too big for the integrated solar led street light design. So we installed the solar panel to the back of the light body. From the perspective of safe installation, we still want to install the solar panel on the top of the pole separately.

High Power Outdoor Solar Lights in Cebu, Philippines
A solar street light project was installed on an island in Cebu, Philippines, in 2014. 4500 lumens on a 6M pole is bright enough. 90W solar panel is also enough for a 30W LED street light to work at full power all night. But the battery configuration is still too low. It is because the capacity of the battery will continue to decay. About 2 to 3 years later, the battery capacity is insufficient for a 30W LED street light to work all night at full power.

High Power Outdoor Solar Lights in OHIO, USA
The US OHIO continent is also suitable for installing outdoor solar street lights. It is because of the better light and temperature conditions. In general, induction dimming is a very economical feature in areas with few people. The LED power can be increased for the same solar panel and battery configuration. Since no pedestrians are around, the LED power will drop 30% to save energy.
